It turns out that the shooting of a 15 pound Mountain Lion cub by Santa Paula Police officers was found to be Unjustified! After I notifed the columnist who wrote an article claiming the cub to be 40 pounds (instead of 15 pounds)that her facts were erronious, she never wrote or called me. She wrote the article after a California State Biologist had already weighed the poor animal. The article is below.
Police Shooting of Mountain Lion Cub found "Unjustified"
Santa Paula, CA-- An outside review of the recent shooting death of a mountain lion cub in Santa Paula, calls the use of force by a police officer "unjustified."
The findings were presented by a weapons and tactics specialist from the Burbank Police Department during Monday night's Santa Paula City Council meeting.
That expert did not believe anyone's life was threatened by the cub at the time of the shooting.
Santa Paula Police say Fish and Game had been called but had not yet arrived when the cub approached the officer, who says he was forced to shoot the cub.
